This is a study that addresses the incidence of accidents and complications in dental extractions, attributed to anesthetic techniques, the use of appropriate and diagnostic instruments, as well as the use of specific surgical techniques, even recognizing that unforeseen events still occur due to multifactorial factors. The objective of this work is to evaluate the incidence of accidents and complications in dental extractions performed by students at the Faculty of Dentistry of Recife, to raise awareness about the main occurrences and improve clinical practice. This is an observational, documentary, prospective and cross-sectional study , carried out in the college’s clinics. The sample included patients over 18 years of age who underwent dental extractions and who agreed to participate in the research. Data were obtained through a validated questionnaire, with statistical analysis performed using SPSS software. 30 patients participated, with an average age of 47 years. The majority of extractions were third molars (26.7%) and the most used anesthetic technique
was regional + infiltrative block (60%). Complications occurred in 5 patients, including infections and bone injuries, while no significant intraoperative accidents were recorded. safe and effective. The study reinforces the importance of clinical training to ensure safe procedures and a satisfactory recovery for patients.
