Abstract

The aim of this article is to carry out an epidemiological study of the Zika virus in the Northeast of Brazil between 2019 and 2023. The methodology used in this work was an observational, quantitative and descriptive ecological study, in which data from the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) was used. The results obtained by this article showed that the epidemiological profile of the disease is similar in all federal units, in addition to the fact that women are more affected than men, with a total of 44471 cases recorded in women and only 26835 cases in men in the same period. According to the information in the article, it was possible to conclude that the profile most afflicted by the Zika virus is made up of females of brown race and aged between 20 and 39 years. The data also shows that the Zika virus is still a public health problem, requiring attention and action from the bodies responsible for tackling this disease in the Northeast of Brazil.
