Abstract
This study analyzes anesthetic-surgical risk factors in pediatric patients with comorbidities, highlighting challenges in clinical practice. Objectives: to identify major anesthetic-surgical complications and preventive strategies in pediatrics. Methodology: an integrative review conducted in November 2024, using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS) databases. Descriptors such as “pediatric anesthesia,” “pediatric comorbidities,” and “pediatric surgery” were combined using boolean operators AND and OR. Studies from the past 5 years in Portuguese, English, and Spanish were included, excluding opinion articles and case reports. Results: 15 studies analyzed indicated that comorbidities like cardiac and respiratory diseases significantly increase perioperative risks. Conclusion: Early identification of risks associated with pediatric patients is essential to minimize complications, emphasizing the importance of well-trained multidisciplinary teams.
