Atualizações no manejo da Dermatite Atópica: Uma revisão bibliográfica

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, pruritic and inflammatory skin disease that occurs most often in children, but also affects adults. The clinical features of AD include skin dryness, scaling, erythema, secretion, crusting and lichenification. Itching is a characteristic of the disease and is responsible for much of the disease burden for patients, their families and caregivers. Treatment goals include reducing symptoms and signs, preventing exacerbations and minimization of therapeutic risks. Standard treatment modalities for the management of these patients are centered on the use of topical anti-inflammatory preparations and skin hydration, but Patients with severe disease may require phototherapy or systemic treatment. This review discusses the epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations and diagnosis of AD, in addition to the approach to management of severe and refractory AD in children and adults.
