EXÉRESE DE CISTO ÓSSEO TRAUMÁTICO EM REGIÃO ANTERIOR DE MANDÍBULA ATRAVÉS DA TÉCNICA DE MARSUPIALIZAÇÃO: RELATO DE CASO CLÍNICO.

Abstract

Traumatic bone cysts are benign, uncommon lesions that do not present painful symptoms. In imaging tests, which are most often responsible for detecting these lesions, they are characterized by the presence of circumscribed, unilocular radiolucent images. On clinical examination, most of the time only an increase in the volume of the affected area is noticeable. In addition, its etiology is still unknown, although there are several studies that point to trauma as the main hypothesis. The aim of this study was to report a clinical case of a biopsy of a cystic lesion in the anterior region of the jaw. A 26-year-old Caucasian male patient came to the dental clinic at AORP (Associação odontológica de Ribeirão Preto) complaining of an increase in volume in the region between the mental foramina, although he did not report any painful symptoms. However, the patient was referred for a CT scan to aid diagnosis and plan the case. The complementary examination revealed a well-defined, irregularly-shaped hypodense image. It was located in the anterior region of the mandible, close to the lower anterior teeth. It was also observed that the lesion was generating a distal displacement of the long axis of teeth 33 and 43, causing a resorption of the buccal wall of the alveolar ridge near tooth 43. Therefore, the chosen course of action was to surgically remove the lesion in question using the marsupialization technique, and then send it for histopathological analysis. Eight months after the procedure, the patient had bone repair compatible with the surgical time and no signs of inflammation, indicating good progress and, consequently, a good prognosis.
