This article aimed to conduct a literature review on the use of biomaterials and regenerative techniques in orthopedic surgeries, focusing on their impact on functional recovery and the treatment of complex injuries. A search was conducted in databases such as PubMed, LILACS, SciELO, and Google Scholar, including articles published between 2020 and 2024. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 10 studies were selected that detail innovations and challenges related to the use of biomaterials such as titanium, ceramics, and polymers, as well as regenerative techniques like stem cells and growth factors. The results demonstrate that the combination of biomaterials and regenerative approaches has shown great potential to optimize patient recovery, particularly in complex fractures and cartilage injuries. However, challenges remain, such as standardizing treatment protocols and addressing ethical issues related to the use of stem cells. Promising trends include personalized treatments, the use of 3D printing for customized prosthetics, and artificial intelligence for surgical planning. The continuous advancement of these technologies and collaboration across different fields are essential to improving the efficacy and safety of orthopedic interventions.
