Abstract
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic, autoimmune, multisystem disease. This pathology can manifest itself in people of any age, race and gender. However, there is a higher prevalence in women of reproductive age. The objective of the present study is to present the maternal-fetal outcomes of pregnant women with SLE. This is a narrative review of the literature, using the SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) and PubMed (US National Library of Medicine) databases, and the Health Sciences Descriptors (DeCS) used were: “Systemic Lupus Erythematosus”, “Pregnancy”, “Autoimmune Disease”. The selected articles were published in English, Portuguese and Spanish, between the years 2014 and 2024. The clinical presentation of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is highly heterogeneous and pregnant women with SLE are at high risk for maternal-fetal complications. These complications include disease exacerbation, intrauterine growth restriction, premature birth and even maternal mortality. Therefore, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus involves signs and symptoms in women that can affect a baby during pregnancy and significant maternal-fetal morbidity and mortality, that will require monitoring by a multidisciplinary teams and evaluation before and throughout the entire pregnancy.
