The development of transdermal patches has advanced significantly in recent years, driven by the introduction of new polymeric materials, the use of nanotechnology, and improvements in manufacturing techniques. This process involves essential stages, from the initial formulation to the final packaging, which ensure the product’s efficacy and safety. Although these advancements represent substantial progress, industrial production of transdermal patches still faces considerable challenges. The administration of drugs through these patches facilitates direct absorption through the skin, delivering the medication to systemic circulation. This mechanism relies on the patch's ability to keep the drug in constant and prolonged contact with the skin surface. Given the importance of this topic, this study aimed to critically analyze the technological advancements, challenges, and future perspectives in the industrial production of transdermal patches, providing a comprehensive view of the current state and emerging trends in this field. The adopted methodology consisted of a literature review using digital platforms, through which 63 relevant studies on the subject were identified and analyzed. The studies conclude that transdermal patches are essential tools for drug delivery. By leveraging innovations in polymers and manufacturing methods, and emphasizing quality and safety, these systems represent a considerable advancement in modern pharmacotherapy.
