NURSING'S CHALLENGES IN CARING FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE

This article aims to analyze the approach to nursing care for homeless people and explore the challenges faced by nursing professionals in this context. A bibliographic review was conducted using the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and the LILACS, BDENF and Medline databases. Of the 134 articles retrieved, after reading the titles and abstracts, 119 were excluded because they did not fit the objectives of this research and did not clearly address them, thus not being part of the final analysis. After thorough reading, 9 articles were included in the analysis, making up the final articles that will be summarized in this review. The nursing team plays a fundamental role in assisting homeless people, both in promoting, maintaining and restoring health and in social reintegration. Health education is used as a strategy to enable these people to make informed choices about their own health. The need for ongoing studies on the subject of homeless people is highlighted, since their singularities and the increase in this population emerge as a public health issue that needs to be addressed comprehensively.
