Abstract

Dental enamel is a mineralized tissue that covers and protects the damaged element. It is primarily responsible for preventing problems such as cavities and even tooth sensitivity, but it can undergo several changes during different phases of amelogenesis, which can be configured in hypoplasia and/or hypomineralization. The Hypomineralization of Molar Incisor (HMI) which is a change designated as qualitative, which informs that the cells were affected during the stages of calcification and/or enamel maturation, increasing the prospect of occurrence of dental caries and sensitivity, in addition to aesthetic impairment. This study aims to describe the clinical case of a patient diagnosed with HMI, addressing the clinical characteristics, differential diagnosis and indicated treatment. The same complaint presented of change in the color of molars and incisors. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach, presented in the format of a clinical case report carried out at the Clínica da Face in the city of Francisco Beltrão/PR. Therefore, this report develops broader views on the diagnosis and treatment of molar-incisor hypomineralization and thereby increases the quality of life of patients.
