The use of electronic cigarettes has increased in recent years and has been promoted by the media as a less harmful alternative to traditional cigarettes. However, the increase in lung injuries associated with the use of these devices, referred to as EVALI, has caused great concern in healthcare due to the great social and physical impact on those involved. There are many factors that predict the description of the injury, including the presence of characteristics and changes that are difficult to monitor in the composition of the product, due to the vast variety on the market. Recent research shows that products containing tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and vitamin E acetate are notably associated with these conditions.
