Abstract
A 52-year-old male patient came to the private clinic complaining of pain. During the anamnesis, the patient reported dentin hypersensitivity and spontaneous pain after tooth 43 had been worn by the prosthetist to adjust a single crown on the adjacent upper tooth. A positive cold test with characteristics of irreversible pulpitis was performed and since then the patient has reported that the sensitivity has increased and progressed to an acute symptomatic condition, without presenting any systemic changes. After anesthesia, the coronary access was performed. Irrigation was performed with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite, in a 5 ml plastic syringe and a 27G needle with a side outlet. Then, the root canal was explored with manual K-files #10 and #15. Next, odontometry was performed using an electronic foraminal locator (Irrot Apex). The canal was prepared with a R25/08 file from the Reciproc Blue Tip 25 System with a diameter of 0.8 taper, programmed in Reciproc All mode. At the end of the biomechanical preparation, the EasyClean file was used. First, 2.5% sodium hypochlorite was activated for 3 cycles of 20 seconds, followed by 17% trisodium EDTA for 3 cycles of 20 seconds and finally, 3 more cycles of 20 seconds with 2.5% sodium hypochlorite. The root canals were filled with an R25 gutta-percha cone using the single cone technique associated with AH Plus Jet cement.
