Introduction: Food hypersensitivity reactions are typically characterized as adverse responses triggered by the ingestion of a food item, which may result in various symptoms or even death. Objective: To analyze and describe, through a literature review, the main forms of diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of food allergies. Methodology: This study is a literature review on food allergies, with a qualitative and exploratory approach. For this research, studies from PubMed and the Cochrane Library were used, utilizing the search tool: 'Food Hypersensitivity' AND 'Child.' At the end of the selection process, 10 articles were used in this research. Results: Food allergies do not present an easy diagnosis, mainly due to their multiple clinical manifestations and the fact that tests do not always detect allergens. For prevention, interventions during the period of food introduction are necessary, as this moment significantly impacts the development of this disorder. Meanwhile, the treatment of food allergies depends on the severity of the reactions and symptoms of each patient. Conclusion: This literature review provided an analysis of the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of food allergies during childhood.
