This article presents a systematic review on the effects of different weaning protocols in patients undergoing mechanical ventilation. Through the analysis of clinical trials and observational studies, the results indicate that strategies such as spontaneous breathing trials (SBT) and pressure support ventilation are effective in reducing ventilation time and associated complications. Additionally, automated protocols proved to be a promising alternative to optimize ventilatory weaning, improving outcomes in intensive care units. It is concluded that the implementation of standardized approaches and adequate sedation management are essential for successful ventilator weaning.
