Abstract
This article aims to evaluate the clinical aspects of Infectious Endocarditis performed in the last five years. Integrative review in the BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed database of works published between 2020 and 2024, combining the descriptors "infectious endocarditis", "diagnosis" and "treatment". Infective endocarditis is infection of the endocardium, usually by bacteria (usually streptococcus or staphylococcus) or fungi. It can cause fever, heart murmurs, petechiae, anemia, embolic phenomena and endocardial vegetations. Vegetations can lead to valve obstruction or insufficiency, myocardial abscess or mycotic aneurysm. It is concluded that the diagnosis requires demonstration of microorganisms in the blood and, almost always, echocardiography. Treatment consists of prolonged antimicrobial therapy and, sometimes, surgery
