Abstract

Objective: to verify whether the use of electronic device causes pathological complications in its users. Method: it was an integrative review to investigate the harm caused by the use of electronic device. The research was carried out in the following databases: Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde, Scielo and PubMed, covering the years between 2019 and 2023. The descriptors were used: “vaping” OR “vape” AND “patologia” OR “pathology” in Portuguese and English languages. The initial number of selected articles was more than 100. Of these, after analysis by the Rayyan platform, 25 articles remained that were compatible with the inclusion criteria and descriptors, these articles being national and international. Discussion: The recent replacement of cigarette smoke by vaporized products containing solvents, flavorings, nicotine and other chemical substances in their different forms, called Depfs or Defs (electronic smoking devices), has gained prominence among young people between 15 and 24 years old in recent years , raising several questions about the real harm and results that their prolonged use can cause in the various bodily and psychological systems and embezzlement in Brazilian public health, which refrains from monitoring the production of these illegal products and the safety of users, remaining only with the consequences left by its use in the health of young people.
