Abstract

This article aims to conduct a review of the current medical literature on the relationship between systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) and different income levels, understanding how socioeconomic factors influence the development of this condition. The National Library of Medicine, PubMed, and SciELO databases were used as search engines for article selection, using the keywords “hypertension,” “health disparities,” “chronic diseases,” “risk factors,” “socioeconomic,” “hypertension,” and “chronic diseases.” It is concluded that the prevalence of hypertension is higher among individuals with low income and low education levels. Additionally, factors such as racial inequalities and a sedentary lifestyle also contribute to the problem.
