Abstract
This article aims to evaluate the clinical aspects of the diagnosis and treatment of epistaxis carried out in the last five years. Integrative review in the BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed database of works published between 2020 and 2024, combining the descriptors "epistaxis", "diagnosis" and "treatment" with the Boolean descriptor "AND". Epistaxis is defined as active bleeding from the nasal cavities, being the main otolaryngological emergency. The patient's clinical evaluation includes anterior rhinoscopy and oroscopy, in an attempt to identify the bleeding area. In cases of active bleeding, washing with saline solution, aspiration and nasal endoscopy can help visualize the bleeding site. The association of coagulopathies, the use of medications that interfere with the function platelet disease or other systemic diseases that interfere with the course of epistaxis require evaluation in a tertiary care service
