Introduction: Pneumothorax occurs when air leaks into the space between the lungs and the chest wall. Therefore, the approach to managing this change must be quick and effective to ensure the patient's stability. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the best interventions to control and reverse the patient's clinical condition. Objective: Explore the best strategies and techniques used to treat pneumothorax in critically ill patients. Methodology: The Cochrane, Scielo and Medline databases were used, searching for articles published between 2022 and 2024, in Portuguese, English or Spanish. Final Considerations: The approach to pneumothorax in critically ill patients requires careful and personalized intervention, where early identification of the problem and appropriate selection between different techniques contribute to the best clinical outcome and safe management for the patient.
