Abstract
This study is characterized as a descriptive, retrospective and analytical epidemiological study, in which the information was obtained from the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System. In the period analyzed, 3,266 hospitalizations for stroke were recorded in the State of Goiás. In relation to the range age, patients aged 50 and 59 were the most affected. The highest number of hospitalizations prevailed among people of mixed ethnicity and the male gender predominated. Through the aforementioned data, it is possible to state that the vast majority of patients are economically active, where values rise abruptly from the age of 50, and belonging to mixed race and male gender, in which men presented an absolute number of hospitalizations. bigger.
