Aesthetic and Functional Rehabilitation with Lithium Disilicate-Reinforced Ceramic Elements: A Case Report

Abstract

Dissatisfaction with the aesthetics and alignment of teeth has increased the demand for dental treatments. Therefore, one of the main objectives of cosmetic dentistry is to design teeth that look natural and are aesthetically suited to the individual and specific needs of each patient. With the increase in life expectancy and the improvement in people's oral health, significant transformations have occurred in the field of prosthetic dental rehabilitation. The advancement of lithium disilicate-reinforced ceramic systems has improved the clinical performance of prosthetic restorations, making it possible to restore function and aesthetics for patients dissatisfied with their smile. In this study, 10 pieces of lithium disilicate-reinforced ceramic were fabricated: 3 overlays for teeth 24, 25, and 15; 2 crowns for teeth 14 and 21; and 5 veneers for teeth 13, 12, 11, 22, and 23, which were cemented with Relyx Ultimate resin cement. Prosthetic rehabilitations with ceramic restorations yield excellent results when properly planned and executed, providing total patient satisfaction. At the end of the treatment, alignment, symmetry, size, and color of all teeth were ensured, as well as a good marginal fit of the prostheses, thus restoring both aesthetic and masticatory function. The patient expressed great contentment and satisfaction at the end of the treatment, stating that her expectations were greatly exceeded.
