Abstract

Crisis management in emergency units is crucial to ensure quick and effective responses in high-pressure situations, where every second counts. Well-structured protocols can make the difference between life and death, optimizing processes, minimizing errors and improving results for patients. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of crisis management protocols implemented in a specific emergency unit, analyzing both the quantitative results and the qualitative perceptions of the healthcare professionals involved. The results indicate that the crisis management protocols were effective in improving the overall performance of the emergency unit. Comparing with previous studies, such as that by Silva et al. (2022), who observed a 40% reduction in response time, the results obtained in the present study were even more significant, suggesting that customizing the protocols to the local reality may have contributed to the success. However, the study also identified challenges in implementation, such as initial resistance from professionals, which was overcome with intensive and continuous training. Qualitative analysis suggests that as well as improving efficiency, the protocols also had a positive impact on team morale, which is crucial in high-pressure environments. The implementation of new crisis management protocols in the emergency unit resulted in significant improvements in both operational efficiency and the quality of care provided to patients. The success of these protocols highlights the importance of a structured and adaptable approach to crisis management in healthcare settings.
