Abstract

Cutaneous melanoma is an aggressive skin cancer for which early detection is crucial to treatment success. This study aimed to evaluate early diagnosis strategies and therapeutic management of cutaneous melanoma. An integrative review was conducted using the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and the Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) databases. Articles from the last five years were selected using Health Sciences descriptors such as “melanoma,” “early diagnosis,” and “therapeutics.” The results indicated that a combination of digital dermoscopy, excisional biopsy, and histopathological analysis are effective in early diagnosis, while immunotherapy and conservative surgery are promising therapeutic approaches. It is concluded that adopting these strategies can significantly improve the prognosis of patients with cutaneous melanoma.
