Abstract

This article aims to perform an integrative review of the available therapeutic approaches for histrionic personality disorder, using the PubMed database with the terms "Histrionic Personality Disorder", "Treatment", "Psychological Intervention". In summary, the review of therapeutic approaches for histrionic personality disorder highlights the effectiveness of several strategies, with cognitive-behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy emerging as main interventions. CBT has been shown to be effective in modifying dysfunctional thought patterns and promoting emotion regulation skills, while psychodynamic therapy offers deep insights into patients' internal conflicts and underlying motivations. In addition, interventions based on social skills and the use of pharmacological treatment for co-occurring symptoms expand the options available for the management of the disorder. Personalizing therapeutic approaches, adapting them to the individual needs and characteristics of patients, is essential to optimize results. Combining psychosocial therapies with pharmacologic strategies, when appropriate, offers a more comprehensive and effective approach to the treatment of histrionic personality disorder. Continued research and adaptation of clinical practices based on new evidence are essential to improve interventions and promote more effective and individualized treatment.
