Epidemiological profile of hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction in the State of Goiás between 2019 and 2023

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the epidemiological profile of patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction between January 2019 and December 2023, in the State of Goiás. This study is characterized as a descriptive, retrospective and analytical epidemiological study, in which the information was obtained from the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System. During the period analyzed, 28,723 hospitalizations for acute myocardial infarction were recorded in the State of Goiás. In relation to age group, patients aged 60 and 29 were the most affected. The highest number of hospitalizations predominated among people of mixed ethnicity and the male gender predominated. Through the aforementioned data, it is possible to state that the vast majority of patients are elderly, where the values ​​rise abruptly from the age of 50, and belonging to the mixed race and male gender, in which men reported a higher absolute number of hospitalizations.
