Abstract

This article aims to evaluate the clinical aspects of erysipelas performed in the last five years. Integrative review in the BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed database of works published between 2020 and 2024, combining the descriptors "tympanic perforation", "diagnosis" and "treatment". Traumatic perforation of the tympanic membrane can cause pain, otorrhagia, hearing loss, tinnitus and vertigo. It is concluded that the diagnosis is based on otoscopy. Treatment is almost always unnecessary. Antibiotics may be needed to prevent or treat infections. Surgical treatment may be necessary to treat cases of perforations that persist for more than 2 months, disarticulation of the ossicular chain or injuries affecting the inner ear.
