Abstract

Introduction: Pulmonary Embolism consists of obstruction of the pulmonary artery or its branches by a thrombus. Symptoms involve hypoxemia, increased peripheral vascular resistance, increased ventricular post-varga, dyspnea, chest pain, hemoptysis. Therefore, pulmonary embolism has a high incidence of fatality and is silent and common to other pathologies, which makes diagnosis difficult and increases the number of deaths. The objective is to evaluate the epidemiological profile of morbidity due to pulmonary embolism between 2019 and 2024 in the state of Goiás. Methodology: This cross-sectional study is descriptive and observational. A data survey was carried out by the SUS Hospital Information System (SIH/SUS), through DATASUS. The data were collected in the state of Goiás, during the period from January 2019 to June 2024, relating the variables city of hospitalization, year of hospitalization, sex, age group. Results: More than 1,900,000 cases were observed in the period analyzed, with Goiânia having 42%, the year 2023 having 22%, the age group from 20 to 29 years old having 18% and females having around 57%. Final considerations: Therefore, it can be observed that the profile consists of women, between 20 and 29 years old, hospitalized in Goiânia in 2023.
