O Papel do Psiquiatra na Equipe Multidisciplinar para o Tratamento de Autismo

Abstract

Introduction: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by deficits in social communication and repetitive behaviors, with increasing global prevalence. Effective treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach, where the psychiatrist plays a central role in prescribing, psychopharmacological management, and communication between health teams, especially in cases with complex comorbidities. Methodology: The study reviewed articles from 2014 to 2024 from scientific bases, such as PubMed and SCIELO, using keywords from DeCS. The selection focused on the role of the psychiatrist in the management of psychiatric comorbidities in ASD, psychopharmacological treatment and interprofessional collaboration. The critical analysis evaluated the methodological quality and practical applicability of the findings. Results and discussions: The psychiatrist plays an essential role in the treatment of ASD, diagnosing and managing psychiatric comorbidities, such as anxiety and depression, and prescribing psychopharmacological treatments to control challenging symptoms. In addition, the psychiatrist acts as a link between health professionals, ensuring a cohesive treatment plan. Connecting psychiatry is crucial, promoting adapted medical care, centered on the patient and the family, ensuring the well-being and quality of life of patients. Final considerations: This study highlights the importance of the psychiatrist in the treatment of ASD, emphasizing its central role in the management of psychopharmacological treatments and in communication between health professionals. The multidisciplinary approach is crucial to ensure cohesive, personalized care focused on the well-being of the patient and their family, promoting quality of life and maximum development of the capabilities of individuals with ASD.
