Abstract
This article aims to evaluate the clinical aspects of sleep apnea performed in the last five years. Integrative review in the BVS, LILACS, SciELO, PubMed database of works published between 2020 and 2024, combining the descriptors "sleep apnea", "diagnosis" and "treatment". Sleep apnea is a serious condition in which breathing stops repeatedly long enough to interrupt sleep and often temporarily decreases the amount of oxygen and increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the blood. It is concluded that the diagnosis is usually confirmed, and severity is best determined by monitoring the person's breathing during sleep. Treatment targets both risk factors and sleep apnea itself.
