Abstract

Galeazzi fracture-dislocation, first described by Ricardo Galeazzi in 1934, is a complex orthopedic injury involving a diaphyseal fracture of the radius and dislocation of the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ). This study reviews contemporary approaches to the treatment of Galeazzi fractures, highlighting recent surgical techniques and advances in postoperative rehabilitation. An integrative review was conducted in June 2024, covering studies in Portuguese, Spanish, and English. Articles addressing relevant aspects of Galeazzi fractures in humans were included, with a focus on clinical outcomes. Current surgical techniques, such as the use of dynamic compression plates, combined with early rehabilitation, have shown effectiveness in functional recovery. However, complications like DRUJ instability and joint stiffness remain challenges. Continuous research and innovation are essential to improving the management of this orthopedic injury.
