ROLE OF THE HEALTHCARE TEAM IN SEXUAL VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

This article addresses some aspects of gender-based violence in Brazil, considering it as a public health problem. The objective of this article is to reflect and promote a change in perspective on the health of survivors of gender-based violence. A narrative bibliographic review was carried out, including the themes of epidemiology, the history of combating gender-based violence in Brazil, the role of front-line healthcare providers in this type of care and the signs of violence experienced by the patient. It has been established that gender-based violence is widespread but made invisible by medical care. It is necessary to raise awareness among health professionals to answer this question.
