Abstract

Lung assessment in the ICU is essential to define treatments. Chest radiography is limited, while computed tomography, although effective, is not feasible for all critically ill patients. Lung ultrasound (USG) has emerged as a useful tool, reducing radiation dependence, costs, and the need for patient transport. This study reviewed 7 articles from 2023 and 2024 on lung USG in the ICU, highlighting its clinical applications and benefits. Bedside USG is vital for diagnosis, treatment and guidance of interventional procedures in critically ill patients.
