This article aims to review current approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, using the PubMed database with the terms "Rheumatoid arthritis", "Diagnosis" and "Pharmacological treatment". The results demonstrate that advances in diagnostic and treatment technologies have promoted substantial improvements in early detection and management of the disease. New imaging techniques, such as high-resolution ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, allow detailed visualization of joint changes and subclinical inflammation. The use of biomarkers, such as rheumatoid factor and anti-cyclic peptide antibodies, has increased diagnostic accuracy and enabled more personalized treatments. Additionally, the introduction of new medications, including biologics and DMARDs, has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms and preventing joint damage. However, challenges persist, such as the need for continuous monitoring of the effectiveness of treatments and the management of long-term side effects. Despite the promising results of new treatments, variation in patient response and possible adverse effects require a careful and individualized approach. In summary, although progress in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatoid arthritis is remarkable, continued research and surveillance are critical to ensure long-term efficacy and safety.
