Abstract

Introduction: Dengue in Brazil, from 2019 to March 2024, affected 8,800,148 Brazilians. When analyzed in children and adolescents, it can present in an asymptomatic or severe form, which can lead to death. Objective: To analyze dengue notifications in children and adolescents in Brazil and to present the distribution according to regions in the period from 2019 to April 2024. Methods: An observational ecological study of the descriptive type and with a quantitative approach, carried out via WEB with the Health Information System of the Ministry of Health – DATASUS. Results: Of all dengue cases recorded in the country, 16.43% corresponded to Brazilians up to 14 years of age. It is observed that these notifications showed an increasing average in the years studied, with an exacerbation between the months of January and March 2024, since they represented the highest number of notifications between the study period and the highest average per month of dengue cases. When analyzing the regions, the Southeast had the highest number of infected people, while the Central-West region had the highest prevalence per 100,000 inhabitants. Conclusion: Dengue notifications in children are still high and significant in Brazil, and broader policies focusing on new strategies to combat dengue are necessary.
