OVERVIEW OF CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH HEART FAILURE

The main objective of this article is to analyze the epidemiological panorama of children with heart failure. This is a descriptive, ecological study using data obtained by the Department of Information Technology of the Unified Health System (DATASUS), through the Hospital Information System (SIH) platform. Data from children hospitalized with a diagnosis of heart failure were analyzed from 2018 to 2022 in Brazil, with variables such as year of care, age group, region, and sex being analyzed. In 2019, there was a prevalence of children under 1 year old and male children in the Northeast region. Given the above, it is clear that the number of hospitalizations of children diagnosed with heart failure is still alarming. Thus, it was concluded that public strategies to encourage health and primary prevention are essential to reduce the frequency of the disease and, consequently, the need for hospitalization of infants with HF.
