Abstract

Nephrolithiasis, a common condition characterized by the formation of kidney stones, represents a significant challenge in clinical practice due to its high prevalence and recurrence. This study aimed to analyze the clinical and surgical management of nephrolithiasis, identifying the most effective approaches and their respective implications for patients' health. An integrative literature review was used, with searches in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO) and Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS) databases. Studies published in the last ten years were included, addressing both the clinical and surgical treatment of nephrolithiasis. The results showed that, while clinical therapy is effective in preventing the formation of new stones and managing small stones, surgical interventions are often necessary for larger stones and in cases of complications. It is concluded that a multidisciplinary approach, which combines clinical and surgical strategies, is essential for the effective management of nephrolithiasis, aiming to minimize recurrence and improve patients' quality of life.
