Abstract
Introduction: As a rehabilitative alternative for patients who have an indication for multiple extractions of remaining teeth, immediate complete dentures (ITP) seek to provide the patient with psychological comfort, facilitating the transition from the partial tooth state to the total toothless state. Objective: It aims to report the prosthetic-surgical planning of a rehabilitation involving upper immediate complete denture. Case Report: A 65-year-old patient, leucoderma, without systemic comorbidities, presented to the dental prosthesis specialization clinic of a college in northern Brazil with the main complaint of missing teeth and dissatisfaction with the upper removable partial denture used about 10 years for the patient. During anamnesis and clinical evaluation, it was possible to verify that the patient had a marked deviation from the dental midline, dental remnants compromised by occlusal trauma. During the planning process, the patient was recommended a superior protocol prosthesis to improve quality of life, however, due to financial issues, the patient ended up opting for the option of extracting the remaining teeth 11, 12, 13 and 27. After systemic evaluation by medical exams, surgery was performed under local anesthesia with lidocaine 2 and adrenaline 1,100,000 using forceps to dislocate teeth 11, 12, 13 and 27. At the end of the surgery, the ITP was installed, which in this case proved to be an effective alternative treatment, showing a balanced aesthetic-rehabilitating result. Conclusion: It was concluded that the results obtained with this treatment modality were resolving for the clinical case, restoring aesthetics and function without subjecting the patient to a period of edentulism.
