Abstract
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive method for localized fat reduction that has been gaining attention due to its efficacy and safety, becoming an alternative to traditional surgical interventions such as liposuction. In this context, the present work aims to analyze the results and implications of using cryolipolysis, especially in the submental area. For this purpose, an Integrative Literature Review was conducted using databases such as the Virtual Health Library (BVS), PubMed, and the Capes portal, employing health science descriptors such as "cryolipolysis" and "submental fat," combined with the boolean operator "AND." The selected studies demonstrate that cryolipolysis provides significant and lasting fat reduction in the treated areas, particularly in the flanks and submental region. This method is particularly effective in patients who do not experience significant weight fluctuations, with less pronounced results in obese individuals. Adverse effects are generally mild, including temporary numbness and tingling in the treated area. Moreover, the technique has been improved over the years, with recent studies exploring the effectiveness of three-dimensional applicators that promote more uniform and efficient cooling. In conclusion, cryolipolysis has proven to be a revolutionary method in the field of aesthetic dermatology, offering substantial benefits that outweigh its limitations. Future research should focus on expanding understanding of the durability of results and exploring new technologies and complementary techniques to maximize treatment efficacy.
