Abstract
The study aimed to show the incidence of Chikungunya cases in southeastern Brazil in the period between 2017 and the first quarter of 2024. It is a descriptive and quantitative study, using public domain data and unrestricted access, whose the survey took place through the Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN), made available by the Information Technology Department of the Unified Health System (DATASUS). Significant increases were observed in both the absolute number of cases and incidence rates per 100 thousand inhabitants in several states, especially in the first quarter of 2024 compared to the year 2023. Therefore, it is crucial that health authorities intensify prevention efforts, population education and disease monitoring, in addition to investing in research to better understand the factors that contribute to the increase in incidence and develop effective control measures.
