Abstract

Primary systemic arterial hypertension is one of the main public health problems in the world, directly affecting the costs of the Brazilian single health system. This disease is multifactorial, based on lifestyle, with habits that can be predisposing, such as: inadequate diet, alcohol consumption, hypercholesterolemia, overweight, sedentary lifestyle and abundant salt consumption. Therefore, early diagnosis and appropriate management are essential, so that healthy lifestyle habits can be implemented as non-drug treatment and, if necessary and depending on the degree of hypertension, treatment with medication. Therefore, although it seems simple, most patients' adherence to treatment is difficult, which causes the SAH condition to worsen and even cardiovascular, brain and kidney problems. Thus, the objective of the present study is to describe the epidemiological profile of patients hospitalized for primary systemic arterial hypertension in Espírito Santo between 2019 and 2023.
