Abstract

This article aims to compare the formation of the brachial plexus between the species Gallus gallus and Homo sapiens. Search for bibliographic descriptions on the formation of the brachial plexus of both species and perform brachial plexus dissections of specimens of Gallus gallus. Articles and books specialized in human and bird anatomy were used for theoretical deepening and 20 specimens of the subspecies Gallus gallus domesticus were used for the work of disection and comparison between the plexuses. It is concluded that the spinal nerves of both species cross the intervertebral foramen and contribute to the conformation of the brachial plexus from the cervical swelling of the spinal cord. The brachial plexuses of both species contribute to the innervation of the thoracic limb with its terminal nerves and contribute its collateral branches to the innervation of the shoulder girdle. The similarity of the formation of the plexuses of both species remains evident in the formation of the plexus by ventral branches of the last cervical and first thoracic nerves, which leave the conjunct foramen of the cervical and thoracic vertebrae, nerves originating from the cervical swelling of the spinal cord.
