IMPACTS ON THE MENTAL HEALTH OF WOMEN VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

Abstract

Domestic violence against women is very harmful to women's physical and mental health. Therefore, the purpose of this study on the impact of domestic violence on women's mental health is to determine the impact of domestic violence on the mental health of women who face aggression in a specific environment. To this end, a literature review with a qualitative approach based on research was used: Nursing Database (BDENF), Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), PubMed and Literature in Health Sciences of Latin America and the Caribbean (LILACS). In relation to the results found in the literature, the same psychological conditions were found in women exposed to violence, as the violence that women face causes illnesses related to their mental health, including the victims. Domestic violence can cause psychological damage, low self-esteem and confidence, pain, stress, depression and health problems such as panic disorder, this shows that anger is a global health problem.
