Cardiac Surgery: Nursing care in the post-operative

Abstract

Introduction: Cardiac surgery is a complex procedure that requires intensive care in the postoperative period to ensure adequate recovery and prevent complications. Nursing care plays a crucial role in this context, providing specialized care, continuous monitoring, targeted interventions to promote hemodynamic stability, prevent infections, manage pain and facilitate patient rehabilitation. Objective: To analyze nursing care in the postoperative period of cardiac surgery, highlighting the interventions carried out by the nursing team to promote patient recovery. Methods: This is an integrative literature review article in the SciELo and BIREME databases. Results: Nursing care in the postoperative period of cardiac surgery involves a series of interventions that aim to ensure the patient's stability, prevent complications and promote adequate recovery. Conclusion: The nursing process as a work methodology contributes to quality care, related to the necessary guidelines for each case, and to better care assistance involving patients, families and nursing.
