Abstract
I regret to inform the death, at the age of 71, of Carlos Eduardo Francischone, one of the most prestigious professionals in Brazilian Dentistry and one of the pioneers of Implantology in Brazil. Francischone passed away on Thursday night (5/20) and was undergoing cancer treatment.
Marked by his contribution in the areas of Dentistry and Implantology, Francischone was the author and collaborator of an extensive academic production, including books, chapters and articles in the research field. As a teacher and lecturer, he taught hundreds of classes both in Brazil and abroad. He was editor of Dental Press Implantology.
In the 1990s, Carlos Eduardo Francischone played an important role in the dissemination of osseointegrated implantology in Brazil, alongside Prof. Dr. Laércio Vasconcelos, in welcoming Prof. Per-Ingvar Brånemark in Brazil.
"Ado", as he was known by his friends, was born in the city of Dois Córregos, in the interior of São Paulo. However, it was in Bauru that he established his successful career. The Faculty of Dentistry of Bauru (FOB-USP) had an important role in its formation. It was there that he graduated in Dentistry, in 1971, and started a prosperous career in teaching. It was also there that he obtained the titles of master (1976), doctor (1978), professor (1984) and full professor (2000). In addition to teaching at the institution that formed him, Francischone also had important passages at the Sagrado Coração University and at São Leopoldo Mandic.
