Abstract

Alzheimer's disease is one of the main causes of dementia in the elderly and has a low response to drug therapy. Therefore, the study aims to explore music therapy and its therapeutic responses as an alternative treatment for Alzheimer's disease. This is a systematic review of eight articles published between 2011 and 2023. The databases used were “Scielo”, “PubMed” and “Google Academic”. With this, it was concluded that music therapy has positive impacts on cognition, social function, sensory integration, synaptic plasticity and mood pictures of the analyzed patients, in addition to being part of a low-cost therapy.
