Abstract
According to INCA, skin cancer is the most common cancer in Brazil and in the world, and accounts for 27% of all malignant neoplasms in the country. Ultraviolet radiation is divided into UVA, UVB and UVC. It is believed that less than a third of new cancer cases reported per year worldwide could be prevented. This study aims to analyze the forms of sun exposure and the prevention of skin cancer. This is an integrative literature review, searching the MEDLINE and LILACS databases, in the time window of the last five years. It is concluded that the UV index, forms of sun protection, use of protective clothing, photoexposure habits are a set of information that needs to be articulated between the professional and the patient in order to guarantee personalized sun protection in accordance with the need for it.
