Abstract
The pemphigoid of mucous membranes describes as a group of chronic mucocutaneous bullous diseases, autoimmune. Oral manifestations are perceived in most patients, but can occur in other locations, such as the conjunctival, nasal, esophageal, laryngeal and vaginal mucosa, as well as the skin. This paper aims to report a case of oral pemphigoid and review the current literature on the subject, such as the purpose of diagnosis and treatment. The literature review was conducted through a search in the scientific literature indexed in scientific databases such as Scielo, PubMed, Lilacs, Virtual Health Library and also academic theoretical bibliography. Although oral pemphigoid is not such a common condition in dental offices, knowledge about these oral lesions is extremely important, making the correct diagnosis and referring these patients to the appropriate treatment. With this we can conclude with this article that the pemphigoid of the mucous membrane is a chronic pathology, and in some cases it manifests itself in a more aggressive way, but rarely fatal. Therefore, treatment will depend on the location, rate of progression and severity of the manifestation of the pathology.
