Resumo

Introdução: A crescente prevalência da miopia e seu impacto sobre a saúde ocular mundial consolidam essa condição como uma das principais prioridades da oftalmologia contemporânea. Mais do que um simples erro refracional, a miopia progressiva representa um processo biológico complexo associado ao alongamento axial do globo ocular, responsável pelo aumento do risco de complicações potencialmente irreversíveis. Nesse contexto, o paradigma terapêutico atual deslocou-se da simples correção óptica para estratégias voltadas ao controle da progressão da doença, com o objetivo de preservar a função visual ao longo da vida. Metodologia: O estudo é uma revisão integrativa de literatura com abordagem exploratória e qualitativa. Para a coleta de dados, serão consultadas bases como BVS e SciELO, utilizando descritores controlados alinhados aos DeCS. A busca abrange publicações entre 2012 e 2025 em português, inglês e espanhol, com acesso em formato "free full text" e realizadas com seres humanos. A seleção dos artigos será feita independentemente por dois revisores na plataforma Rayyan. Após a triagem inicial por título e resumo, os estudos elegíveis serão analisados integralmente. Objetivos: Revisar criticamente as evidências científicas mais recentes acerca dos principais tratamentos e cuidados empregados no controle da miopia, discutindo seus mecanismos de ação, eficácia clínica, limitações, perfil de segurança e recomendações atuais, com base nos consensos internacionais e nos estudos clínicos de maior impacto publicados na literatura. Conclusão: O manejo contemporâneo da miopia deve fundamentar-se em decisões clínicas individualizadas. A incorporação dessas estratégias à prática clínica representa um avanço significativo na prevenção da deficiência visual relacionada à alta miopia, contribuindo para melhores desfechos visuais e para a redução da carga epidemiológica dessa condição nas próximas décadas.
