Resumo
A constipação funcional (CF) é um distúrbio gastrointestinal funcional caracterizado por evacuações difíceis e pouco frequentes, com impacto na qualidade de vida infantil. Este estudo é uma revisão sistemática realizada nas bases PubMed, SciELO e BVS Periódicos, incluindo artigos publicados entre 2010 e 2024. Foram selecionados estudos em português, inglês e espanhol que abordassem aspectos clínicos e epidemiológicos da CF. A constipação funcional é a causa mais comum de constipação em crianças, com maior incidência entre 2 e 4 anos, período do desfralde. Sua prevalência varia conforme fatores culturais e ambientais. Estudos indicam maior risco em crianças alimentadas com fórmula, sedentárias e com baixa ingestão de fibras. Distúrbios psicológicos e fatores familiares também influenciam a condição. O diagnóstico segue os critérios Roma IV e deve incluir anamnese detalhada e exame físico, reservando exames complementares para casos específicos. O tratamento baseia-se em quatro etapas: educação, desimpactação, manutenção com laxantes e recondicionamento intestinal. A dieta equilibrada e atividade física são fundamentais para a recuperação. A combinação de mudanças no estilo de vida e uso racional de laxantes melhora o prognóstico e o acompanhamento contínuo das famílias é essencial para evitar recaídas e complicações, promovendo qualidade de vida às crianças afetadas.
