Resumo
O carcinoma adenoide cístico (CAC) é uma neoplasia epitelial maligna rara de glândula salivar da região oral e maxilofacial. Ocorre, em maiores proporções, em glândulas salivares menores, na região de palato duro e mole, seguido por mucosa jugal e do assoalho da boca. Habitualmente, tem um crescimento lento, fazendo com que sua agressividade muitas vezes seja subestimada. Todavia é uma neoplasia que tende à recidiva local e eventual metástase à distância. O objetivo do artigo é apresentar um caso extenso de carcinoma adenoide cístico em paciente do sexo feminino, de 52 anos, em mucosa oral que, histopatologicamente, apresenta aspectos muito semelhantes ao adenocarcinoma polimorfo, bem como apresentar a conduta tomada para o correto diagnóstico.
